What’s behind the name

Something happens to our thoughts and emotions when we hear names being called. If you are wondering where the name Restoration Christian Church came from then you are not alone. Please allow me to take you through a journey...

According to Genesis, after the Flood, Noah sent forth a dove out of the Ark, which "came in to him in the evening; and lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluck off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth." (Genesis. 8:11).

Therefore it wasn't the return of the dove that made Noah joyful, but rather the "the olive leaf".

The olive leaf is acting as a message of joy, jubilation, peace, calm, salvation from the Flood, but also a symbol of victory and the presence of the olive leaf signaled an end to evil, which is the Flood.

While the dove was a symbol of reconciliation with God (Genesis 8:8,10) and is an emblem of peace, the green olive leaf represents hope and new opportunities. Hope and new opportunities will arise as reconciliation takes place.

The ending of evil and the beginning of peace in our lives is the characteristic of Restoration Christian Church, which is to make ready a people prepared for the Lord through healthy teaching and pastoral counseling (Luke 1:17). Men will be restored both horizontally (men to men)  and vertically (men to God).
