What Do You See?

16 But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear; 17 for assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it. (Matthew 13:16-17 NKJV)

It is very interesting to know that God calls those eyes and ears blessed because they can see what others cannot see and hear what others cannot hear. What is it that they can see that others fail to see? What is it that they can hear that others fail to hear? Why does God call those eyes and ears that have the ability to see and hear blessed? What makes those eyes and ears different from any other eye or ear? What is so special about those eyes and ears that their ability to see and hear exceeds others who also have eyes and ears?

The Power To Choose

Also do not take to heart everything people say, Lest you hear your servant cursing you. 22 For many times, also, your own heart has known That even you have cursed others (Ecclesiastes 7:21-22 NKJV)

Nelson Mandela was an anti-apartheid revolutionary who was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1964, he however was released in 1990 after serving for 27 years in prison with the help of an international movement. Though he was treated very bad during his imprisonment, he was able to selectively chose what he wanted to hear for he could not control others from saying what they wanted to say. One clear principle he was showing us and that principle was "we are the master of our own tongue and ears". Others may say whatever please them and we have the power to choose what we want to hear.

Jesus Prays For All Believers

20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me (John 17:20-21 NKJV).

Before we became believers, Jesus was already interceding for us (Hebrews 7:25) for He came to seek and save that which was lost (Luke 19:10). When we became believers, He continued interceding for us that we all may be one in Him. Oneness is the characteristic of Christianity because we are united in Jesus and not in any denomination. As we are united in Jesus, we have the love for one another and love cannot separate us, love unites us.

Do What We Teach

Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you (1 Timothy 4:16 NKJV).

Many of us are good in teaching others but fail to teach ourselves to do what we teach others and we become modern Pharisees. Failing to do what we teach others shows only that we ourselves do not believe the things that we teach. If it is the case why don't we teach what we believe and do? For instance, if we do not believe completely in the teaching of the Bible, why do we want others and our loved ones to follow the Biblical teaching. But if we believe that the Bible is the Word of God and everything therein is the truth, why don't we live the way the Bible teaches us how to live? Why don't we apply the Biblical principles as we teach others?

The Importance Of Wisdom

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. (James 1:5-6 NKJV)

On a busy street one afternoon two students were seen to have a heated argument. The smart student raised his voice and said "The planet earth is round and cannot be flat" but the less smart student stood on his opinion and screamed even louder "No, the planet earth is not round but flat". The less smart student challenged the smart one saying, "Let us go to the teacher and let him decide who is right". The less smart student said, "If the teacher says that the planet earth is flat then you need run three miles" but "If the teacher says that the planet earth is indeed round, then I will voluntarily let myself fall from the eighteenth floor of this building while pointing his finger to the building where they are standing". They shook hands and went their way home.

Love Is The Best Revenge

But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is  this day, to save many people alive (Genesis 50:20 NKJV)

Like any other evil deeds Joseph was sold by his brothers not without a plan. They had several plans prior to deciding to sell him to an Ishmaelite. What went through their mind as they carried their plan into action? Joseph was a dreamer, he clearly told his parents and his brothers about his dreams and his dream was about who he would become in the future. On top of his dreams, the Bible also told us that Joseph was given a coat with many colors by his father and this created, even more jealousy among his brothers towards him. When their hearts were filled with jealousy, they lost their peace and they let their emotion took charge of what they were about to do to Joseph.

The Freedom

"And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32 NKJV)

One of my brothers is a cardiothoracic surgeon but he also performs general surgery. He visited rural areas in Indonesia to help less fortunate people performing surgery on them who need his skill for free. By word of mouth, people would come to a place where my brother and his team would give a free medical treatment. For those who heard about the coming of this medical team, they know the truth that on such and such a day at such and such a time a free medical treatment will be given. For those who know about this program and make their effort to come to that place, the truth that they know has made them free.

Exercising Our Free Will

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children (Hosea 4:6 NKJV).

Prophet Hosea talked about the people of God who are destroyed for lack of knowledge of God. God said to His people because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me. In other words, unless they are on the same page with God, they will not understand His way for lack of knowledge about Him. If this is the case they cannot be His priest. It is not that God rejected them per se, it is they who are not qualified to be His priest. How can they be His priest if they do not know much about Him? How can they being His priest lead His people without having knowledge about Him?

Deny And Die Or Believe And Live

"But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 10:33 NKJV).

This is one of the warnings Christ wants us to know! This warning comes from Him directly and He gives us a choice between denying Him and die (separated from Him) or believing Him and live (forever with Him), the choice is ours. What is the purpose of this warning? What is so important about this warning that Christ Himself has the urge to let all the people know about the consequence of denying Him before men? How should we respond to this warning? Could it be that the only reason why He warns us because He loves us so much and He does not want us to be perished (2 Peter 3:9)?
