Does Your Church Give You The Right Teaching?

Are You Helping The Poor?

Tuesday, September 19, 2017

There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land. (Deuteronomy 15:11 NIV)

When the Bible says that the poor will always be in the land, the Lord wants us to make a room in our heart to exercise mercy with such a compassionate heart upon those who are less fortunate than we are. Since this is a command given by the Lord Himself, we need to make sure that we carry it without any explicit delay because every soul matters to God and matters to us.

The power to make changes in the lives of those who are less fortunate than you are, does not lie in your spoken words that you will help them out but in your action. What you say does not really count (it may be empty words only) but what you do to what you say, does (make it happen) because winners make things happen and losers let things happen. Knowing that you are more than conquerors through Him who loved you (Romans 8:37), make things in your life happen - do what the Lord wants you to do. If you say that every soul matters to you but you close your eyes seeing those that are crippled by the economic crisis then you make yourself a liar.

The church is not a building per se but you and I. Are you applying the teachings that you received from your pastor or are you keeping them for your knowledge only? Knowledge will remain knowledge and will not do anything good to you or others until you apply that very knowledge - the freedom to make things happen. There is no law against doing good to others, of which I am almost certain. There is no law against loving others, Jesus died in our place after all, because He loved us all the way to the end. He did not come to judge us in the first place but the world through Him might be saved. Is there any law against it?

Before you judge other churches as being irrelevant in their teachings, ask yourself first are you not His church, His eyes, His feet and His arms. Are you not supposed to roll your sleeves and make things happen for those who cry for a change? Or are you running away from your responsibility and blame God alone to be responsible to make changes while you fold your hands? Isn't it ironic that you and I being His lights refuse to shine by choice in the darkest places? If churches come to their senses to become the light of the world, the world will become a better place to live and we do not need to live in darkness.

Friends, is the church you are attending ranked by numbers? Or ranked by the numbers of the assembly attending each service? Or ranked by a very famous pastor who knows how to preach who makes himself so big and less of Jesus? How much longer should you being the church close your eyes when you see the ones that wave their hands for help being ignored, the helpless die before your eyes and justice not being served even in the church. Are you not becoming a murderer through your negligence (Ezekiel 22:23-30)?

May you be blessed as you decide to make changes in the lives of others who cry for help. Amen.
