No Condemnation

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit (Romans 8:1 NKJV)

This is truly a good news because it is more than a pardon or clemency because no record of the crime will ever be found as stated in Hebrews 8:12 (our sins He will remember no more) to those who are in Christ. Why? Because divine justice has been satisfied on behalf of those who are in Christ. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. How can this be one might wonder? How does this whole thing called salvation work?

Sinners who believe in Christ Jesus are justified, which means God declares the believing sinner righteous, while he is still in his sinning state. In other words, sinners who believe in Christ Jesus are still in a state of conflict (still sinning) but not in a state of condemnation. Jesus Christ made this possible to those who believe in Him by dying on their behalf to pay the penalty of their sin, which is death. So, the day the sinner confesses with his mouth and believes in his heart that Jesus is the Lord, at that moment Jesus washes his sins completely by His blood, his sins He will remember no more. His salvation is secure.

Jesus Christ the Son of the living God was condemned in the place of sinners who believe in Him "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus". Since Jesus was already condemned in the place of sinners who believe in Him, believing sinners will not be condemned, not now not ever. The Spirit of God who now dwells in the heart of believing sinners produces "Spirit Life" which centered on Jesus Christ and not on the flesh. Now that Jesus has become the center of everything in the life of believing sinners, His love experienced by this new convert will lead to a change of heart called transformation, which is literally the product of justification.

The transformed heart will choose to walk in the Spirit rather than in the flesh because the Spirit of the living God is now dwelling in the heart of the believing sinner. Romans 8:6 (NKJV) says, "For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace." Can you recall the peace that we experienced the day we confessed with our mouth and believed in our heart that Jesus is the Lord? And we were on fire for the Lord, were we not? And we refused to do what we did the day before we accepted Christ. Why? Because the Spirit of the Lord who now dwells in us takes charge and leads us to be at the place God wants us to be.

How about today? Are we still on fire for the Lord knowing that we are no longer under condemnation? Where are we today in the Lord? Are we leaving our first love? May we all run with endurance the race that is set before us (Hebrews 12:1) and may we all set our eyes on Him who sits on the throne. Amen!
