A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, But the simple pass on and are punished (Proverbs 22:3 NKJV)

Last week, we heard the news that hurricane “Irma” would touchdown in Florida on Sunday. What would you do, going there exactly where the hurricane would touchdown or stay away from that place? Here we directly see the benefit of wisdom and consideration in regards to what we are going to do. A prudent man, the Bible says, using his wisdom will stay away when he foresees evil coming his way. A prudent man will not leave home without praying, a prudent man will not take any action prior to consulting God, a prudent man will hide himself when he foresees evil coming his way.

The case of Joseph, for instance, he foresaw the seven years of famine and he took action based on the wisdom he received from the Lord in that he collected all the food produced in the seven years of abundance in Egypt and stored it in the cities (Genesis 41:48).  Another example for a prudent man was David, when he foresaw that King Saul was about to kill him, he hid himself (1 Samuel 20:19). Mary and Joseph were warned to go another way because they foresaw evil coming their way to kill Jesus (Matthew 2:13-14).

But the simple pass on and are punished. The simple seems to have no wisdom; they simply believe every word that flatters them, instead of hiding, they move forward and are punished. The simple take no warning from others for they cannot foresee evil coming their way, they are satisfied with their self-complacency. The simple move forward without considering warning, they refuse to think ahead of time and move with the crowd right into destruction, they inflict their own punishment. The simple cannot control their own mouth, they are near destruction (Proverbs 10:14).

Be wise and follow His instruction. Amen!
