Jesus Is God

Part 1

8 But to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. 9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.” (Hebrews 1:8-9 NKJV)

The Bible amazes me because it does not only inform or reform readers but it also transforms readers who are in need for the truth that will set them free (John 8:32) because it is God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16). No other books known to man but the Bible that can set the people free and transform them for the Bible is the Word of God and the Word of God is Truth (John 17:17). Books other than the Bible may consist facts and facts are subject to the truth because facts may change over time but truth remains forever. Facts may inform or at the most reform you but facts can never transform you.

Knowing that the Bible is the Word of God, let us now see what God says of the Son (Jesus Christ) “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever”. God Himself the Creator of Heaven and Earth declares that Jesus is God and He calls Him (Jesus) “Son”. His Kingdom is forever and ever, which means He is King of kings and Lord of lords throughout eternity - His Kingdom knows no end! Regardless of what we say who Jesus is, it does not change His position being the Son of God and it does not make Him less God - He is what God says He is.

10 And: “You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands. 11 They will perish, but You remain; And they will all grow old like a garment; 12 Like a cloak You will fold them up, And they will be changed. But You are the same, And Your years will not fail. (Hebrews 1:10-12 NKJV). In verse 10 we see directly Jesus being the Creator at work before His incarnation. Heaven and Earth are the work of His hands and yet all of these will pass away one day but Jesus the Word that became flesh remains forever throughout eternity, so Jesus is God!

When Jesus comes back the second time, He will not come as a baby but as a ruler, as a judge. Heaven and Earth as we know today will be destroyed and He will build new Heaven and Earth with new materials. Do you now see how foolish it is to make the present Heaven and Earth your abiding place and how foolish it is to love what will pass away? Let us prepare ourselves for that big day for the Lord might come unexpectedly any time like a thief. Believe in Jesus who will come as the Judge and He will judge the living and the dead; He is the King of kings and Lord of lords -  He is GOD the Almighty. Amen.
